A dance festival called Udayaraga was inaugurated by Governor Murlidhar Chandrakant Bhandare at the Jayadev Bhavan, Bhubaneswar recently.This unique programme was organised by the Odishi Dance Academy for two days for young dancers.The director of the academy has explained the purpose of the festival. The opportunity for solo programmes has been reducing due to the popularity of group dancing.Shibani Pattnaik, Pravat Swain and Supriya Nayak started the rocking evening’s along with Mangalacharan.Shibani Pattnaik performed konark kantee where she expressed different arts of the konark temple in different Mudras. The item was based on raga Bhupali and Shankaravana.The two day festival will also have an intevative session in the morning. The morning session is named Bahirangam.
