Starting from begger to billionare and from peon to prince gathered to get glimpse of the sibling deities in “Golden Avatar”. In spite of heavy rainfall in many regions of Orissa, the climate of puri was totally suitable for the pilgrims to enjoy the golden avatar of Lord Jagannath.

Keeping in mind the stampede involving the death of a woman during pulling of chariots on Ratha yatra on Jyly13, the police force were put up Barricades to allow pilgrims to go on queue up to the chariots.

There were some curious foreign tourists, who braved the mad rush to view the gold clad deities on chariots. Since non-Hindus not allowed entering Jagannath temple do not get a chance to see the lords in golden attires during some other festive occasions inside the shrine, they grabbed the opportunity to watch Suna Besha on chariots outside the temple.

  1. Orissa i s the poorest State in India. The Oriyas are very proud of their national deity Jaggarnath. We do not know if Jaggarnath cares much about the poverty of the people, but the deity is never in want. He lives in a lap of luxury. He dressed in golden robes and dines 56 varieties tasty foods.
