Women activists have moved from several organizations in Cuttack to demand a roll back on the government decision about the use of water from Jobra barrage for the industrial purposes. They have pressed for the demand during a sitting agitation that has lasted for more than three hours. The activists have even supported the causes of the Mahanadi Banchao Andolan in order to protest the Posco’s using of the Mahanadi water for its proposed steel plant in Paradeep through the Taladanda canal.

Former MP Archana Nayak from Kendrapda have joined the activist group and she mentioned that the water flow for the Mahanadi Barrage has moved down and adequate amount of water is not left for the branch of the river and for its distributor channels such as the Puri main canal, Pattamundai canal, and Taladanda canal.
