Rooftop isn’t Green – Desperate to Make the Metro Perfect!
Brought up in Delhi, Orissa chief minister Naveen Patnaik would like Bhubaneswar to have a perfect metro look with air – conditioned malls catering to the considering of the rich and famous.
Recently, one such mall with rooftop parking facility was inaugurated at the Unit – II area of the city. The opening ceremony involved many politicians. But BJD Rajya Sabha member Pyari Mohan Mohapatra, who was the chief guest for the occasion, was far from the impressed by the parking facility.
There were indications that the bureaucrat – turned – politician, who is much senior to the chief minister in age, would have been with a regular parking arrangement maybe in the basement of the building.
The reason: such elevators will consume more electricity.
This would be one issue on which the two leaders would beg to differ.
