Lawyers Boycotted Proceedings at High Court
Members of the Orissa High Court Bar Association did not moved back for the court to resume their services and they have decided to observe a one day token strike. They decided to move for such strike in order to register their protest over transfer of a judge. On Saturday, the Association has decided to call off their casework which was announced on August 24 after advocate Bishnu Charan Das was killed due to police firing at Bagalpur.
A general body meeting held to discuss more about the transfer of the judge from the Orissa high court. High Court Bar Association General Secretary Lalatendu Samantray has mentioned that it was commonly decided to stay away from the court work as a sign of protest. This one day strike has happened for the third time in last five months and the fourth one in eight months that the lawyers from Orissa high court have boycotted further proceedings for the day.
