The Indian hockey squad for the upcoming Common Wealth Games was publicizing last Monday. While Prabodh Tirkey has made it to the 16 – member national team, most senior players from Orissa including former captain Ignace Tirkey are missing due to grievance. Though players from the state may not be as active in the international hockey scenario as they were a couple years ago, there are many in the pipeline that have all the violence and passion that hockey demands. Roshan Minz, Bikas Toppo, Sunil Ekka and many more youngsters will soon find their way into team.

Whenever sports lovers consider over the truth that the number of players from the state in the national team is decreasing, lack of infrastructure cannot be an excuse. People have to appreciate the role of the spectators that has power to create a legend out of the ordinary player. The approach of sports lovers in the state is definitely getting more and more supportive for the players of various sports.
