It’s the Bhitarakanika wildlife sanctuary that has been considered as one of the rich biodiversity region in Orissa is now waiting for a global recognition. The unique ecosystem is currently under scrutiny of various UNESCO committees in order to make sure that whether or not it deserves the status as a world heritage site.

The Bhitarakanika wildlife sanctuary and National Park has been short-listed among other 27 sites by the country for the UNESCO world heritage site status at the beginning of this year. Well, it’s the global body that is now minutely investigating the biodiversity assets related to this park on the basis of the documents and records submitted by the forest department. Manoj Kumar Mohaptara, the divisional forest officer, Rajnagar mangrove division has mentioned this.
