When the residents of twin city, Bhubaneswar and Cuttack were in deep sleep at  late midnight , a strong earthquake  hit the area .Earthquake hit the entire area twice at 1:28 am and 1:29 pm at night.

It has been reported that some of the buildings have got a fracture and windows and doors have been misplaced due to attack of earthquake.Similarly, in Bhubaneswar, the area which has felt the shake are Acharyabihar, Nayapalli, Jayadevbihar, Rasulgarh, Unit -4, Bomikhal, Unit-9, Bapuji Nagar, Airport area, Dumduma.This earthquake has also been felt in coastal areas including Puri, Paradeep, Banki.

In midnight , it has been found that the residents were standing in the cuttack road , out of their apartment due to terror struck of earthquake.No Casualty has been reported so far.

The meteorologist department has already predicted the situation before.As both Cuttack and Bhubaneswar are situated in earthquake zone, it was likely to come under the attack of earthquake.The actual epicenter of earthquake was at Andaman & Nicobar which hit the place at a magnitude of 7.6 richter scale.
