Mayawati

Dalit daughter Mayawati is on its way to make herself a living legend by installing statues all over the state. The use of public money for creating such useless master pieces has drawn the attention of Supreme court even. Supreme court has send a legal notice to give   explanation of misusing public money for making her own and other dalit leader statues. Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati.

The investigation order by SC came in response of public petition filed by advocate Ravi Kant, seeking a Central Bureau of Investigation against the chief minister for looting public money for the installation of statues of herself and other dalit leaders like Kanshi Ram and B R Ambedkar. She has also diminished the greenery of a vast area of Uttar Pradesh for establishing BSP’s elephant symbol.

A bench of Justices Dalveer Bhandari and A K Ganguli asked the state government to file an affidavit within four weeks, citing the arguments for the use of public money to make statue city.

According to a Delhi based lawyer, Rs 1258 crore had been spent from the state till now to build these statutes. This amount accounts for 90% budget of Uttar Pradesh cultural department.

However, the court didn’t order any stay on the ongoing construction of statutes and memorials in the state. The petition also alleged that the projects are being carried out as part of state policy, which violates Article 14 of the constitution.

Although Mayawati has also appointed a lawyer in her support, Sc said the comments should come by way of reply to the notice.
